Then here is information for you!
The European Commission has published on the participant's portal the FP7 Environment Orientation Paper for the 2013 call. You will find it here.
The Orientation Paper “Ocean for Tomorrow 2013” is also online here. It features environment or energy related research topics and might also be of interest for SMEs and universities interested in environmental research and innovation.
The document provides orientation on the research and innovation topics that will be included in the official calls for proposals to be published mid July. Although it cannot be considered as definitive, the document provides valuable insight into what potential applicants can expect to find in the final FP7 Work Programme for Environment, including climate change.
Like last year, the 2013 Environment Work Programme is split into 5 societal challenges:
- Coping with climate change;
- Sustainable use and management of land and seas;
- Improved resource efficiency;
- Protecting citizens from environmental hazards;
- Mobilising environmental knowledge for policy, industry and society
You will also note some key features in this orientation paper, like:
- Two-stage procedure: like last year, the European Commission has maintained for some topics this procedure, whereby applicants will provide first a lighter project proposal by mid October and, only if selected after this first step, applicants will submit full proposal.
- SME-oriented topics: some topics demand research projects whereby 15% or 30% of the whole EU contribution must go to SMEs
- Innovation and result-oriented topics: some topics are less prescriptive, open to many types of collaborative projects and tend to ask for activities closer to the market (prototyping, demonstration, exploitation of research results)
The European Commission has also announced the date for some forthcoming EU Info Day whereby the different research topics will be presented. Networking opportunities will also be offered. If interested, don’t miss it !
