In International Partnership

The 5th Interreg North-West Europe call for projects is now open until Thursday 16 January 2025 at 12:00 CET (11:00 UTC+1).

Thematic priorities and funded activities

This call covers nine priorities, including the themes “Circular Economy“, but also “Innovation and Resilience” and many more. Applicants propose their own activities according to their problem, but as an indication, projects may include pilot actions (testing a new approach, adapting an existing approach to a new context, etc.) as well as exchanges of experiences (meetings with stakeholders, seminars, workshops, visits, staff exchanges, etc.).

It is possible to consult the list of projects already funded in order to have ideas of the type of activities funded.

Transnational collaborative projects

The programme finances transnational cooperation initiatives that are likely to produce concrete results for the North-West Europe region (Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland, and part of France and Germany).

Consortia must have at least 3 partners from 3 different countries (including 2 from North-West Europe), and propose to co-create together an original solution to a common problem or concern under the chosen theme. Consortia can be composed of actors from the associative, academic, economic (incl. SMEs) and public sectors – all these categories being ideally represented within the same consortium. Projects must be built around the notions of territoriality, cooperation and impact: it is essential to cooperate transnationally at all stages to achieve the project objectives.

Budget allocated to projects

Throughout the programme, 287 million euros will be allocated to projects. The programme will cover up to 60% of eligible costs. On average, projects receive between €1 and €2 million in funding, with variations depending on the planned activities, the duration of the project, and the number of partners.

A two-stage procedure

The call follows a two-stage process. During the first stage (deadline 16 January 2025), applicants will focus on the need and justification for the project, its objective, the added value of the proposed approach and the relevance of the partnership. All projects that successfully pass the first stage will be invited to submit a more detailed application, including a full work plan and budget, for submission in July 2025. Selected projects will start in November 2025 and must be completed by June 2029.
