Vietnam is undergoing a transformation. The goal: to achieve the status of an industrial nation. This is also reflected in the economic development, which, despite the crisis period, recorded an economic growth of over 2 % in 2020. Vietnam thus occupies a top position globally.
The new free trade agreement between the EU and Vietnam (EVFTA), which came into force in 2020, is accelerating this. The agreement aims to eliminate 99% of all tariffs between the EU and Vietnam, cut red tape and reduce technical barriers to trade. As a new generation agreement, it also provides guarantees on intellectual property rights and contains stringent provisions on labour law and environmental protection.
NRW.Europa, together with the Enterprise Europe Network Vietnam, is organising a virtual workshop for companies from all over Europe on Wednesday, 5 May 2021 from 9.30 – 11.00 am (CEST) via Zoom.
In addition to an introduction to the economic context of Vietnam and the benefits of the free trade agreement through EEN Vietnam, entrepreneurs and experts will provide you with insights into the development of “smart factories” as well as the trend of “smart cities”, which is quite new for Vietnam. In addition, the South-East Asia IP SME Helpdesk will provide you with strategies for protecting intellectual property in South-East Asia. After the presentations, you will be able to discuss with the participating companies and experts from Vietnam!
