In Algemeen, Sustainability

The EU and its Member States are committed to implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Adopted in 2015, the 2030 Agenda, with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), constitutes an action plan to eradicate poverty and achieve a sustainable world by 2030 and beyond, whose leitmotif is human well-being on a healthy planet.

The EU Voluntary Review will:

  • be an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to the 2030 Agenda, to increase the visibility and coherence of the work undertaken in terms of implementing the SDGs
  • compile the most important commitments, objectives, measures and, if applicable, timetables
  • summarize progress on key initiatives to implement the 2030 Agenda.
  • be comprehensive and focus on internal and external actions of the Union that contribute to the implementation of the SDGs

The voluntary EU review is a way to promote the pursuit of sustainable development in a balanced way across its 3 dimensions: economic, social and environmental.

Target audience – All stakeholder groups are invited to provide input and express their views: public authorities at all levels, civil society organisations, businesses, academia and the general public.
