The Regulation on promoting fairness and transparency for business users of online intermediation services contains the first-ever rules for a fair, transparent and predictable business environment for smaller businesses and traders on online platforms.

Online intermediation services such as ecommerce marketplaces, app stores and online travel agents, as well as search engines, will need to set out the main parameters that determine how search results are ranked.

The Commission is producing guidelines to help online intermediation services and search engines understand this obligation before it starts to apply on 12 July 2020. We would like to invite you to provide your suggestions on what these guidelines should achieve and for you to share any examples or best practices.
