The EIT launched on 26 October a new call to create a new sustainable innovation partnership to strengthen Culture & Creativity in Europe

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)  boosts innovation by increasing the collaboration between business, education and research organisation, public authorities and civil society. To achieve this, the Institute supports the development of dynamic pan-European partnerships called EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs). To date, the EIT has established eight KICs . More information on the EIT on our website.

This call aims at the establishing of a 9th KIC for the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI).  The new partnership will help accelerate CCSI’ recovery and unlock untapped economic opportunities in creative fields such as architecture, cultural heritage, design, fashion, film, music, publishing, performing arts and video games.

Approximately EUR 300 million of funding under Horizon Europe is available for two new EIT KICs to be launched during the 2021-2027 EU funding period. Through successful innovations and contributions from third parties, the partnership is expected to become financially sustainable over time beyond the period supported by EIT funding. The indicative amount for the Start-up Grant is up to EUR 6 million to finance the start-up activities and initial pilot actions.

The focus of this call is the setting up of the KIC itself, so it targets the potential core founding members from the KICs. Consortia applying should consist of max. 50 leading organisations from business, education and research, the so-called ‘knowledge triangle’. At this stage, individuals are not able to apply. Once set up in 2023, the new EIT KIC will begin offering a wide range of activities specifically tailored for students, entrepreneurs and innovators active in the CCSI and will be open to new members.

All call information is available on the EIT website. The deadline for submitting applications for the call for proposal for EIT Culture & Creativity is Thursday 24 March 2022 17:00 CET. The EIT organises 4 webinars to prepare applicants. Your NCP for this call are Camille Lépinay (NCP EIT) and Kardelen Kala (NCP Cluster 2).
